Everything you need to know about the Colombia Decaf

Sourced from the Flor a Fruto Estate in Caldas, the same farm behind our Colombian Single Origin, this decaffeinated coffee preserves the character and sweetness of the original beans.

The cup offers notes of toasted cacao, dark caramel, brown sugar, and a hint of citrus, with a smooth, rounded finish.


To remove the caffeine while maintaining flavour, the beans undergo a natural sugarcane decaffeination process.

This method uses ethyl acetate (EA)—a compound naturally derived from fermented sugarcane—to gently extract caffeine from the beans.

After steaming to open the bean structure, the coffee is washed in the EA solution until the caffeine is removed, then rinsed, steamed again, and dried.

Because the process uses compounds naturally present in fruit and sugarcane, it preserves much of the coffee’s original flavour while avoiding harsher chemical methods.


The result is a decaf that remains rich, balanced, and unmistakably Colombian, ideal for those who want the flavourof specialty coffee any time of day.

The SCA scoring focuses on quality and flavour, but also considers other factors involved in producing the coffee beans, such as sustainability practices and ethical sourcing.

With regular coffee, not only can it be made from lower quality beans, there is no guarantee that attention has been paid to the preservation of the environment or the well-being of workers.
